Year 2 - The Second Earthship Pitaya Festival took place on January 30th, 2010. Day time activities included a Yoga workshop, scheduled tours of the finished Earthship, and a party for the local Carrizal kids with a giant monkey pinata. The food court was even more impressive this year featuring baked goodies from Pan de Vida and Gato Negro. On the grill we had Dona Angelita’s carne asada, Jorvin’s fish tacos made famous at Playa Madera, a caballo bayo from El Timon & Globo , speciality tacos from El Pozo, and BBQ chicken quesadillas from the Parque Maderas Rasta Shack. Eskimo dished out pitaya flavored ice-cream and Pau Hana brought the “Aloha”. The Music Schedule consisted of Santa Monica’s infamous Guadalajara Joe, Tabaccero from Rivas, the always treasured Matty Powell Show, Marea Llena, San Juan locals Don Brigote y Los Pobrecitos, Monroy Surmenage and Division Urbana of Managua. Once again DJ Johnny G took the after party to a whole new level. Our estimated attendance was around 1,500 visitors throughout the day and night.
